Dancewarehouse Newsletter No. 5 January 2011
Welcome to 2011, and I hope it will be a not just the best you have ever had, but the most exciting, yet peaceful, prosperous and rewarding, and bring you everything you wish.
As far as dancing is concerned we are trying to do just that for all of you. With the new Beginners classes on Tuesdays at 7.45 to 8.45, the brand new Argentine Tango classes on Thursdays at 9.15 to 10.15, the Social Practice Sessions on a Wednesday evening at 9.15 to 10.30, Private lessons for everyone should they need them and then the once a month dance date (last Saturday in each month) we hope we have covered everything suggested in 2010, BUT not to be complacent, we want your ideas moving forward… does your class give you what you want, would you like something else, something different (I am talking dancing here) more, less, faster, slower, maybe even a single dance revision course per month. Dancewarehouse is your school; let us know what you want to dance.
Talking about the new classes, our new Beginners Class was without doubt the best supported we have had for a couple of years and hopefully everyone in that class is enjoying the experience, it certainly has a very happy atmosphere and everyone’s going out smiling… hope that’s a good sign. With regards to the Argentine Tango course; after all the fun and tangled bodies we had this week just trying a simple ‘Gancho’ which resembled a game of Twister goodness knows what will happen when we start the ‘Sacadas’ in a couple of weeks. This dance is so nice to do and everyone seems to be able to dance all the steps well, it has a feeling all of its own and I personally think that everyone should try this even if it’s just a few basic steps.
Those of you who visit the web site frequently will notice ‘The Shop’ where you can now pay for your class lessons on site by credit card, something that many have asked about in the past. This is a very secure way of paying and enables you to get a 10% discount on the classes… pay for nine get ten. The vouchers are also for sale here as will be any of the ‘Special Dance tickets’ that we will be having during the year.
Membership is now due and many of you have already completed and returned your forms, can I ask those of you who are yet to do this, please let us have the forms back as quickly as possible because the SMBC do have a habit of checking this membership especially because we have to have a license just to be where we are, plus the Bar licence.
WEB SITE.
I mentioned above about the new ‘Shop’ we have but I need to remind people who are ‘Members’ that to log into the members section you will need a 2011 membership number as the old numbers will be deleted any day now.
Also a reminder to tell you to keep visiting the site, most of you have already missed out on the half price and in some cases FREE vouchers that were offered over the last two weeks, in ‘Martin’s moment of madness, new year sale’, too late now, I have got Jamie to remove them, but others will keep being put onto the site along with lots of information and news items for you to keep up to date. And if you missed the video with Carol and myself dancing… only a few days left before that is removed.
Most of the steps from the classes are now uploaded and ready for you to watch, and the rest are being added in the next couple of weeks, this is the best way to keep up to speed, especially if you miss a class or two. The videos plus the option of Private Lessons mean you will never be behind your friends and more importantly, never be afraid because you feel you cannot keep up.

Why not give one to someone you know wants to start dancing. Speak to me at any time to get yours now.
COMPETITORS SECTION.
Many of our students compete regularly in the area and some venture further afield, nationally, with the odd couple taking on the International circuit. There are a few couples from the classes who have asked about this and so I will be putting competitors information into the newsletter starting in February.
If any of you are interested in competing or just going to watch, let me know and I will try to guide you through the where’s and when’s, do’s and don’ts .
Remember folks, any comments are welcome, good or bad. I would rather you tell me than just decide not to come anymore.
